Don’t Leave The Country with Out Your Android App Translator

If you are headed to a Spanish speaking country but don’t speak the language bring Babel Fish Voice Spanish Translator with you.  It is pretty neat and I can imagine it would also be very effective in a language barrier situation.

It has two windows.  The top window is English.  Type in what you need, click translate.  In the bottom window your text is converted to Spanish.  On top of that the voice translator sends the phrase out through the speaker so you can learn or use the correct pronunciation.  In turn your Spanish speaker can type a response back to you in the bottom window and it will be translated into English.  How neat is that.  Now you can have a two way conversation without weird hand signals or butchered translations.

Use the QR code above with your Bar Code Scanner app, search for Babel Fish Voice in the android market place or visit this web site to find the Free android app.

Carry Your Bible and Bible Study on Your Phone

Search with Bar Code Scanner

I spend a lot of time waiting for children to get out of one event or another.  In those moments I can catch up on my Bible Studies by just turning on my Motorolla Droid.  In the Android Market place I found a Android App called Bible by YouVersion.  This means that with a quick download I have the entire Bible on my phone.

I like this Bible App because it not only carries the entire bible but links you to different Bible reading plans and keeps you on track.  Each Bible reading plan also comes with additional content that aids you in not only reading the Bible but studying it.

The app has multiple settings to make actual reading easier such as lighting and text size settings.  You can also select the version of the Bible you prefer.  Choices include NIV, King James, New LIving translation, The Message, Today’s New International, World English Bible.  There are also several other languages available as well.

Download the android Bible on your phone in the Android Market Place, search for the app using the QR code above and Bar Code Scanner or click here to find it on the web.

Busy Moms Star Gaze with Google Sky Map Droid App

For Christmas “The Girl,” received a telescope.  She has become fascinated with the night sky.  The Nebraska winter has not been to kind to outside star gazing.  But lately spring has sprung so when the temperature started to warm we found ourselves out on the deck with the telescope.  It is amazing to see the moon up close and personal.

We can all pick out the moon out of the night sky but what about the stars.  They are wonderful to look at but without a little history or knowing what you are looking at you might as well see them in a book.

Google Star Map changes all that for us.  This is one cool sci fi application.  You install Google Star map for free from the Android Market place.  I am using it on the Motorola Droid.

When you open Google Star Map your phone will scan to find your location.  Point it to the sky and see the sky come to life.

If you are looking for a particular object use the search feature.  This will aim you to the right coordinates with a simple arrow.  Perfect for the naked eye or use with the telescope.

In the settings you can toggle for night sky which illuminates the screen with red dots.

In the settings panel you can also choose from several displays.  I am not an anstronomer by any stretch of the imagination so I really don’t have a clue about all the options but I will say this if you want a particular map with particular coordinates it is on Google Star Map.

This is a fun droid app for you and the kids.  I can’t wait to take it with us when we camp this summer.
